On 18th October 2003, a Family Games Day was organized to mark the end of 2003 season of the NE CDC Soccer 2010 Programme for participants/Elias Park Football Club(EPFC) members. This Family Games Day is a celebration of friendship, family togetherness and sportsmanship, which are some of the core values of the club. This year’s event garnered an impressive 170 participants of children, fathers and mothers as well as our supportive coaches from Little League who were divided into ten teams of 15 to 17 members. Exciting games in a telematch format were played on that day. To kick off the event was the first game, My Dream Harley. Teams were given recyclable objects such as newspaper, balloons, raffia, etc to decorate a BMX bike. Apart from developing team spirit and co-operation, this game is a test for originality, creativity and being frugal in consumption. Some of the other games were Aladdin’s Magic Carpet, Socceroo Interchange where players dribble a rugby ball and hop with a soccer ball between their legs and Skippety Skippety Hop which is game of skipping with nylon ropes. Giving this event a wholesome community spirit were the external volunteer game marshals (who were friends of some EPFC members), contributions from NE CDC, Pasir Ris Elias CCMC, Little League Pte Ltd, Siglap Sec. School, The New Paper, McDonalds and Pasir Ris Zone ‘12’ RC. One of the highlights of the day’s programme was the presentation of an Award For An Outstanding Achievement to Ruhaizad Ismail who went from EPFC to become a full Singapore National player. Ruhaizad is indeed an inspiration to EPFC members that one’s dream can be achieved through dedication and hard work. Another auspicious and emotional moment, was the farewell of Coach Aidil who will be moving to K.L. in 2004. We would thank him for a job well done and to wish him all the best in his future endeavors. Do visit us in Pasir Ris (with Aidil Junior) whenever you are back in Singapore. All in all, everyone had a great non-soccer day. Those suffering from soccer withdrawals remained behind to play a friendly game before calling it a day. Happy Holidays &
See You All In 2004!!!
